Okay, so maybe it's not real snow, but it's almost as pretty. I decided to look for paper snowflake patterns on the internet and found this and this. I think they are two of the nicest snowflakes I've seen. I also found a video on how to make a 3D snowflake, but I ran out of paper so I haven't had a chance to make it yet.

Something that made me smile
I put Casey on the floor with a cushion on either side of him so I could wash the dishes and he wouldn't get hurt if he fell over, and I heard Lois laughing so I came out to have a look. This is what I saw.
She had put blankets all around him! What a good Big Sister.

Cut from the Same Cloth?
Thursday, 5 November 2009
"Remember, Remember..."
"...the 5th of November.." "Why?" you may ask. Because it's Bonfire night here in the UK and that is when Brits everywhere bring out their fireworks and sparklers to celebrate the infamous "Gunpowder Plot" being foiled back in 1605. And the Sepht
ons were no exception. Mark's dad, stepmom, sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and grandma all came over to join in the fun. It was the first time that Lois, Casey and Jack had seen fireworks of any kind. They weren't sure what to make of them at first, but seemed to enjoy them.

Easy Peasy
So I finally got around to making some applesauce this year. I know it's not a hard thing to do, but this recipe made it even easier and it's really yummy. http://http//allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spiced-Slow-Cooker-Applesauce/Detail.aspx I cooked it for only 3-4 hours like some of the reviews said and it was definatly done by then.

Reading
Lois loves books. She will often sit on the bed upstairs and read them for almost an hour. I have tried many times to get a video of her, and today she finally obliged. Here she is reading one of her favourites Mr Brown can Moo! Can you? (Thanks Aunt Lynda and Uncle Tim)

How does my garden grow?
After nearly four years of living in this house I finally did something with the garden. My Mom dug a bed a few years ago and put some plants in it, but those were eaten by slugs. This year a neighbour gave me some African Marigolds and I got a Clematis for my birthday. Today we took some old bricks and made a raised bed at the end of the garden.
We still have to put some soil in it, but it's a start. I'm still not sure what I'm going to plant. I was thinking maybe some ferns. This particular spot gets absolutely no sun and the ground is very damp. If any of you keen gardeners have any suggestions I would be most greatful.

Under New Management
Well, I (Hilary) have decided to take over blogging duties. It seems like the best thing to do since we now have two children to talk about, so here it goes...

Mark is keeping busy at work but he has managed to complete his Life Coaching course and receive his diploma. He is working on his website and is hoping for clients soon.
Casey is now four months old and is a very happy little boy. I shouldn't say little really. He is nearly 19lbs and has been in 6-9 month cloths for about 5 weeks. He always has a smile on his face and thinks his Daddy is the funniest person in the world.
Lois has become a proper little girl. She has quite the vocabulary and seems so grown up sometimes. Last week we bought her first pair of underwear. We have not officially started potty training, but we thought we'd see what she thought of it all. She did pretty well and was even dry for two nights, but she says she doesn't want to wear underwear anymore. I'm not really bothered. We'll probably do it officially in a few months.

Artistic Expression
I love to draw and colour. It's one of my favourite things to do. Recently I have become a bit bored with crayons and paper, and I decided I needed a bigger canvas and a different medium. So may I present....

Home Birth From a Father's Perspective
Okay, So now a few days after our beautiful son, Casey, was born, I can take the time to think and reflect on the home birth experience and felt as a result I should throw my weight behind the ideas of home birthing and the benefits towards all family member involved.
I am not a big fan of hospitals, I don't enjoy the smell and most of the time when I go to see loved ones they never actually return home. Hospitals for me never offer much hope, however I do applaud both men and women who are skilled with medical expertise.
It was always Hilary's idea to experience a wonderful and emotional birth which was so lacking when we had our first daughter Lois. The freedom to express during a home birth is wonderful. Hilary was able to move freely without any drip or heart monitoring apparatus which hindered her ability to move and relax, while the baby's safety is at the top of every parents agenda, if this is indeed assured the needs for a woman during birth to move the way she wants is imperative, after all its our baby, and a woman and mother have the right to express her need to help relinquish pain hows she sees fit. To see Hilary express herself with freedom and confidence reassured me during her deep groans of pain. I remained relaxed, spoke little and just waited for her promptings to hold or to encourage.
As a man and husband the home birth experience made me feel we were in partnership, that I wasn't some distant stranger watching his wife suffer. We had a common goal which was to bring our son into this world with him knowing we were willing him on with every contraction. At times Hilary would pummel my body as each contraction was increasing in strength. This helped me appreciate and evaluate that the Labour pains were strong and purposeful but the sense of my support was tangible and comforting.
The birth of our son was done the way we wanted it. To give Hilary her deepest wish and desire moved me to tears has he entered this world without the effects of drugs, and to overcome my fear of blood by cutting his cord was emotional to say the least.
God willing any future children we are blessed to have will again be born through the freedom and expression of home birthing, which doesn't just benefit the woman but also the man. I had a great opportunity to assist in a life being born. For it to be such a natural and beautiful experience without the interventions of man was liberating.
I did have my doubts and concerns but my love for my wife and her deep desire to have a happy birthing experience at home allowed me to accept the challenge of bringing my son into this world. Overcoming, vomit, blood, needles and watching your wife suffer is all nothing compared to having a son, an heir to the throne. To carry on the Sephton name only helps me feel like a pioneer for husbands to allow and support home births!
P.s I have shaved now! haha

Future Footballer
Do you think I have a future as a footballer? I do. Maybe the USA women's team. Daddy, on the other hand, needs to work on his heading skills.

I'm It
Mummy told me today that I got tagged. I didn't know what that meant so she said that a friend of hers who does a blog wanted to play a little game...
Tag, you’re it! You’re supposed to go to your fourth picture file and find your fourth picture, then post it on your blog with an explanation of the photo. Then tag four other bloggers to do the same.
I went to my fourth picture file and found that there were only two pictures in it. So this one is the fourth picture from my third file. I am 13 weeks old, and as you can see, I already loved smiling for the camera.

Now I tag Auntie Heather, Jack and Sara.

New Baby

No, it's not Mummy's new baby, it's my new cousin Jack Jenkins. He is only 2 weeks old and is very cute. I got to hold him on my lap and give him kisses. He can't play with me yet, but Mummy says that we will have lots of fun together when he is a bit older. If you want to know more about Jack just check out the link on the right.
